The News on Vacation

Grady Moore took The Monticello News on vacation to Paris, France May 21-May 31). Grady graduated from Jasper County High School on May 19 and the trip was a gift from his grandmother, Nona Watson, who also traveled with Grady and his mother, Alicia Moore. His great aunt, Sandra McCallum, and Rosalyn Moore also joined in on the trip. While in Paris, we went to the top of Eiffel Tower, visited the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, mastered the Paris Metro, and toured the palace at Versailles. Grady is seen with The Monticello News on the evening we watched the sunset at the Arc De Triomphe in downtown Paris. Our favorite part of the trip was our stay in the region of Normandy where we visited Mont Saint Michel, a beautiful abbey built in the 1200s, and World War II troop landing sites of Point de Hoc, Arromanches, and Omaha Beach. Witnessing the lowering of the American flag while TAPS was played at the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach was an unforgettable experience.

Are you going on vacation? Take a copy of The Monticello News with you, snap a photo, and submit to editor@themonticellonews.com to be featured in a future newspaper. Include lots of info about the trip or just a little. Either works. If you forget your newspaper, buy a local paper on vacation and take a photo with that. We’re excited to learn of your travels and share them with our readers. (Currently, we have several waiting, so be patient, we’ll get you in.)
