Meeting, More Set at TPH

Jasper County Historical Foundation (JCHF) announces the spring events at Thomas Persons Hall (TPH) beginning with the organization’s annual meeting today, April 18, at 7 p.m.

The event includes election of this year’s board of directors, a brief update of the non-profits’ business, and an interesting educational program, presented by Betty Jean Jordan. The evening is free to attend and open to the public.

Mrs. Jordan will be speaking on “Jasper County’s Natural Resources.” It will cover national and state public lands in our area, feldspar mining, whitetail deer and several interesting bonus topics. She is the wife of JCHF board member, Robert Jordan of Jordan Engineering, and highly qualified in engineering and consulting services among other specialty services. She is the owner of Polyscape, LLC; executive director of Georgia Mathcounts Foundation; and an instructor with NPDES Training Institute.

The annual meeting will be in the auditorium of Thomas Persons Hall,

319 College St., Monticello and is free to attend and open to the public. Refreshments will follow the meeting.

On Thursday, May 2, JCHF welcomes the return of Monroe Crossing to the auditorium for a night of bluegrass music. This award-winning band travels internationally sharing roots of Americana Bluegrass music in unique Minnesota style. Tickets are available to purchase at ThomasPersonsHall.com and the TPH office.

Saturday, May 4 begins Jasper Jubilee in Monticello and at TPH. This historic building is on the tour of homes, gardens and buildings. Members of JCHF will be on site to guide seekers through the Seven Islands Visitors Center and other areas of the facility. To visit TPH is free but to experience the full tour a $25 ticket is required and a few tickets are available for purchase in the TPH office.

Saturday, May 11 is the grand finale of Jasper Jubilee. JCHF is preparing the front lawn of TPH for a spring festival with craft/ food booths and even yard sale items.
