JCMS Intro to Business Youth Earn Top Honors on Microsoft Word Certification

In April and May, (33) Jasper County Middle School eighth grade students earned their Microsoft Office Word Certification. As soon as eighth grade, students can pursue this certification as part of Jasper County High School’s Career and Technical Agricultural Education (CTAE) Business Pathway.

CTAE programs (or Pathways) equip students with workforce skills needed for post-secondary success. Students acquire critical job skills and earn industry credentials while mastering academic content. Relevant, student-centered learning is at the core of each Pathway offered. The following CTAE Pathways are offered at the high school:

•Agriculture

•Arts, AV/Technology & Communications

•Biotechnology Research and Development

•Business, Management & Administration

•Education & Training

•Engineering and Technology

•Entrepreneurship

•Healthcare

•Work-Based Learning

In the Business Management & Administration Career Pathway, students are prepared with advanced computer skills for future college and career plans. The skills mastered include planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating as well as owning and operating a successful business. Industry certifications offered include Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Course offerings within Business Pathway include Introduction to Business & Technology, Business & Technology (must have IBT pre-requisite) and Business Communications

JCMS business students diligently studied for five months in preparation for this exam. The (13) students listed earned a near perfect score and include Zoey Antonio, Patience Carter, Victoria Cole, Matthew Cumbie, Isabelle Deraney, Sarah Hays, Jackson Lease, Ella Norris, Matthew Robinson, Kyran Roberts, Lillie Perry, Elizabeth Tally, and Katherine Thomas.
