JCPS Teaches Online Coding
Part of the STEM program at Jasper County Primary School includes online coding. Students are challenged to complete learning modules on the platform code.org.
Recently many JCPS students were awarded certificates for completing Music Lab. The high success of this module is credited to the outstanding music program taught by Kim Savage. Students transferred knowledge from Music class to the online coding platform. Students were required to count measures, compose beats and consider rhythm and harmonies in their jam sessions. All students who completed the coding activities were awarded a certificate of completion.
JCPS STEM teacher Elizabeth Proctor was so proud of her young coders and their ability to put their musical skills with technology. Students include kindergarteners—Skylar Alexander, Charleigh Banks, Jacob Bartlett, Mila Burrell, Jackson Hamby, Essence Pennamon, and Kian Stegall.
