Twelve Years Around The World
I was an instructor at an equestrian training center and a man potentially interested in lessons showed up with one of the students.
In the course of getting to know one another a little better our conversation turned toward spirituality.
He began telling me how he had dedicated 12 years traveling around the world doing God’s work. He had worked on missions and campaigns, building church buildings, and doing whatever was needed to better man’s life for the glory of God.
As he talked I would occasionally offer a commonly known verse of scripture in keeping with what he said. He would stop, look thoughtfully upward for a moment, then he would look back at me and say, “I’m not familiar with that verse…” and continue on.
This happened several times and each time the response was the same, “I’m not familiar with that verse…”
I hoped there would be a better time and place to talk further with him on the subject when he became a client so I did not ask him the question whirling around in my head, “You traveled all around the world doing God’s work for 12 years and never once heard a word He said???”
When we look at all the Christian belief systems in existence we see many of them teach the opposite of what others teach as they go about “serving God and doing His work.”
How can that be if they are “listening to God?” How does “listening to God” produce such confusion?
For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. (1 Corinthians 14:33)
Most are serving their own emotions and feelings while listening to others around them talking about their emotions and feelings who have listened to others talk about their emotions and feelings.
Most of the Bibles I see look seldom used and look more like decorations than declarations. Most Christians listen to people pleasing preachers preach about emotions and feelings rather than basic Bible teaching.
Our emotions can be easily altered. One can feel right and be completely wrong.
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. (Matthew 7:13)
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ (Matthew 7:21-22)
