The town of Yemassee, SC, with its population of slightly more than 1,000 residents, has quite a population of monkeys—some 3,500 rhesus monkeys housed at the Alpha Genesis research facility. And so, it created quite a stir when 43 of the chimps escapedand the Yemassee Police Department issued a warning “strongly” advising residents “to keep doors and windows secured to prevent these animals from entering homes.” CBS News reported that someone “failed to secure a door at the enclosure, allowing the monkeys to roam free.” Authorities have been successful in slowly recovering the monkeys
