Local Students Attend Macon Film Festival

Film students at Jasper County High School started the school year with a field trip to the 19th annual Macon Film Festival.

Thirty-two students in the Audio, Video, and Film CTAE pathway viewed six films ranging from 5 to 20 minutes each produced by high school and college filmmakers across the country in the “Student Shorts” block.

Second-year film student Morgan Day reflected that “seeing people’s hard work, and seeing some of myself in the young filmmakers and actors, made it fun and inspiring.”

The JCHS students also participated in a Q&A with filmmakers after the screenings.

Hearing from the filmmakers, first-year film student Lily Perkins noted, “I enjoyed watching the films and getting advice from the filmmakers about the process of making films.”

The students also attended the “Art Immersive Shorts” film block, watching seven surreal short films at the planetarium fulldome theater at the Macon Museum of Arts and Sciences. Student Reagan Barner enjoyed the “really cool effects—especially when they felt like they were coming at us!”

Students attending included Reagan Barner, Jesus Bautista-Martin, Abigail Claborn, Morgan Day, Kimberly Delacerda, Wyatt Dial, Zyron Epps, Sophia Eubanks, Charlie Forrest, Guadalupe Garcia, Ryland Gentry, Kaeon Griffin, Jaylen Holt, Calvin Jones, Lane Mason, Rachel McElhaney, Ariel Mincey, Rylee Morse, Ethan Murdock, Abigail Ogburn, Lillian Perkins, William Perry, Tyler Pounds, Clay Smith, Aiden Sze, Jamil Thompson, Alexi Tillman, Eli Tinney, Aubrey Tinsley, Sofia Urteaga-Marchenko, Natalie Ward, and Jakob Wright.
