May Is Full of Celebration
Nature has come alive. Any day now my magnolia tree will be filled with beautiful large white blossoms that give off a divine fragrance. Lots of red roses that actually do have a gentle scent.
Come Saturday, May 6, the most famous celebrated horse race will be held, the 149th Kentucky Derby. When the winning horse enters the winner’s circle, a large red rose garland made of 400 roses in individual vials of water are draped around the neck of the horse. Since 1987 a local Kroger floral designer has made the garland in the store so shoppers can watch the creation being constructed.
And on the other side of the pond is the Coronation of King Charles III, formerly named Charles Phillip Arthur George Mountbatten-Windsor. If you are an anglophile, you are on pins and needles for hours of the real Crown this coming Saturday. Keep a look out for the Stone of Scone used during coronations since 1296. It is a very strange historic relic.
May 5th, we celebrate Cinco de Mayo. What is it? Over the years this special day has transformed into celebrating something that has something to do with Mexico like independence. Not close, it is the day that the Mexican army defeated the French army.
Still enjoy those tacos.
Have a good week, Monticello.
