JCHS Students Compete at Regional Fair

Jasper County High School students traveled to Eastside High School in Newton County to participate in the 2023 Northeast Region Social Studies Fair last Saturday.

JCHS participants qualified at the local level in December. Jasper County is permitted to submit four projects as county submissions are based upon the number enrolled in the school system. The four projects that qualified competed against 70 projects and 187 students in the local fair.

Fifty projects were presented at the Region Social Studies Fair from Jasper, Forsyth and Newton Counties. The top 16 projects scoring first place advance to the State Social Studies Fair in Kennesaw on April 22, 2023. Students were coached by teachers Bonnie Garvin and Jessica Stanley.

Students present to a team of two judges who follow the State Social Studies Fair rubric. Kayleigh Chaffin won second place for her project “Literature and its Role in Women’s Suffrage”; Kayla Pulliam & Tylin Morgan won third place for their project “President John F. Kennedy’s Assassination and how it Affected Civil Rights”; Gabriella Stacey, Kylee Schell, & Angelina Williams won third place for their project “Women Who Supported the Women’s Suffrage Movement”; and Lyla Melton & Kaydence Turner won third place for their project “The Impact of Women’s Suffrage.”
