We Survived!

Mother Nature hit us with a surprise early blow of frigid temperatures and some fierce winds.

Every year we see blizzards, highways full of wrecked vehicles, new reporters with only their eyes showing in other places, but not here. We got a taste of it, minus the snow, for Christmas this year. Get prepared now just in case we get an encore.

Many folks are suffering with all kinds of illnesses, mostly sniffles. I read somewhere that in Italy they warn tourists “not to get hit by air(colpo d’aria)”. In pictures from there you see them in puffer coats and large woolen scarfs wrapping their throats up to their nose. The reason is to “keep out the air.”

Over here we go outside to take in some air, fresh air. The Italians dress as they do to keep out air which apparently is dangerous. So who is right?

How long will it take you to change from thinking and writing 2023? This is an odd year. Last year was easy, lots of 2s.

How far have we come in 100 years, 1923. Coca-Cola seems to have been around forever. In 1923, Coca-Cola introduced the six-pack container for bottles of Coke. WSB radio transmitted for the first time. Folks in Jasper County with a radio would hear one of their earliest entertainers, Fiddlin’ John Carson. He also made his first record in 1923, selling over 500,000 copies. Just to name a couple.
