It Ain’t Fair
About a week ago all around Jasper County houses were lit up with strings of colored lights, Christmas trees filled windows, families and friends gathered to enjoy trays of classic dishes and desserts. Warm, smiling, laughter described the groups. Little did we know, really, what a blizzard bomb was. We know now.
These things happened in Michigan and “up North”, but not in Georgia. Within hours we had to search for our Winter clothes. Temperatures dropping, all those decorative couch throws were now extra layers as we huddled together hoping the electrical grid holds.
All hourly and nightly news started with film of places like Buffalo, N.Y. which didn’t help all of us since we are Southerners and are only used to seeing a few flakes of snow every few years, but not days and days of bitter cold. Bitter cold is not pretty.
Thank goodness we had the warm fuzzies, the bright lights on the Christmas tree, the boxes and packages stacked under said trees, trying to get past the freeze of ‘22.
Now, four days past Christmas Day, bright sun, a robin in the tree, temperatures above 32 degrees, we survived, maybe lessons learned.
Looking forward to 2023, a hope for a good year.
