Countdown Nine Days

So, you procrastinated yet another year, thinking, pondering Christmas gifts. Maybe you have heard or read about women, mainly, who start shopping for Christmas gifts the day after Christmas for the next year, probably an urban legend.

It is interesting to visit a store the day after Christmas and wade through boxes, broken items and after finding your way through the happy Return people line who just found out the store return policy or that the item they are returning has been reduced by 70-90 %. Merry Christmas is definitely in their rear view mirror.

Especially if you are not clutching the Holy Grail, “the dated receipt.” In that case you will learn to love your gift or use it for a regift or it just sorta disappears.

Some folks criticize gift cards for giving. It is too easy. Go where these cards are sold. Pick out some store that you think your friend or relative would enjoy. Swipe. Ready to give. I’ve known people who have a full choice of gift cards in their wallets. We go almost anywhere and out comes a gift card. So, what’s the beef? Some say gift cards are not personal. Neither are most gifts. Getting the color, size and non-allergic fabric correct is very stressful.

Have you started your Christmas baked goods? Good luck.

Here is my greatest idea for a Christmas or birthday party around Christmas. Rent some rooms at an airport hotel, ask folks to brings some comfort food, like M&M’s or a Red Velvet cake. This will be the easiest party ever, no cleaning, no cooking. After all guests have arrived and found their room, meet in the lobby which has a beautifully decorated, Christmas tree, garland hung from every floor, a warm glowing fireplace. Outside it may be raining and cold but you just hop on the hotel shuttle and they take you to the airport.

Hartsfield has a giant Christmas tree in its atrium, a live band and singers and lots and lots of restaurants; everyone can get what they want to eat from wings to sushi.

With all this who could ask for more except the added bonus is to get to see who hangs out waiting on flights, maybe they are just sight seeing also, lots of people with a destination to no where like us. No stress, no luggage. After enjoying the people watching, the band and the huge tree, return to airport hotel pickup and you will be whisked off to your hotel for a good night rest.

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season where ever you roam or don’t roam. .
