We Want…But Do We Prepare?
One of my favorite parables is that of the two farmers facing hard times. These farmers were neighbors and day after day they looked out over their dry and dusty fields and felt almost hopeless of what to do. A drought was more than a year in the making and there was no end in sight. As you would expect, both farmers turned to prayer, and both believed that God would be faithful to answer their prayers.
But only one of these farmers would reap any type of harvest. Only one of the farmers actually did something in that season of waiting. In time, God would send the necessary rain but only one farmer was prepared. Why is this you ask? Because regardless of what the farmer saw here on earth, he had belief of what the Father could and would do based on his faithfulness.
How does this apply to each of us? When times are difficult, when the situation is bleak, we want from our heavenly Father but do we actually prepare ourselves what He has planned? Often our prayers are only out of desperation and not a sense of preparation.
Friends, to overcome the attacks of Satan we must maintain that “letting go” and remaining faithful requires us to be prepared for what Christ has in store for us. The challenge is we cannot continue to manipulate the situation to fit our wants and desires. After all, His ways are higher and greater than ours.
In your quiet time this week take a look at Luke 6:38. It says, “give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure, you use it will be measured back to you.” So, what kind of farmer are you?
God wants us to be uncommon and faithful. Be specific and generous with the seeds that you sow. Once you prepare and plant those seeds in faith, be patient and prepared for the harvest that will be God honoring and exalt the name of Jesus.
