You Can Make A Difference

Edward Everette Hale once said, “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.”

I truly believe there is so much more that connects us than divides us. One of those many things is discouragement; we all have experienced it at some point in life. We know what it means to battle feelings of insignificance and self-doubt. It seems as if so many circumstances and people in this world are just waiting to tell us that we don’t measure up or that there is a limit to what we can achieve.

Friend, although we may experience times of feeling insignificant or struggle with discouragement, I want to report that those feelings are not facts. We can have victory over all things in life because God created each person on purpose for a purpose!

There is no one else on this planet like you and no one else can do all that you were created to do. Regardless of your upbringing, the mistakes you have made, or any circumstances that have been outside of your control, God has a great plan for your life. With Him, you can overcome any obstacle in your path and defy any odds that are stacked against you.

Your life has a unique purpose—that’s the good news. The difficult news…you are the one who determines whether or not you achieve that purpose. For God’s unique plan to come to fruition in your life, you must take action. You must choose to believe that your life has great significance and choose to walk in your purpose. That requires you to refuse to let problems stop you and to stay committed to the purpose.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there will always be a problem standing in the way of your success. There will always be resistance when you move forward and critics who have something to say about your choices in life. The enemy will be ready and waiting to tell you all the reasons you will fail and people will be armed with criticism.

The sad fact is that many people struggle to celebrate any progress they are not a part of or to rejoice over any success that does not directly impact their own lives.

“Just ignore them and keep going” is so much easier said than done. I realize that it is often those closest to us who can be our loudest critics.

But Deuteronomy 23:6 tells us, “You shall not seek their peace or their prosperity all your days forever.” While you can’t always ignore them completely, be sure you don’t focus on the critics or try to seek their peace.

You will only experience true peace and confidence when you stay focused on the plans God has for your life despite all of the problems that arise. Remember, nothing great is ever accomplished with ease.

Along with refusing to let problems stop you, staying committed to the purpose is key to achieving great things in your life and making a difference. You must decide ahead of time that quitting is not an option.

Daniel 7:25 states, “He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High,” and that’s just what the enemy wants to do: wear you out and overwhelm you with circumstances that leave you questioning or even quitting the fulfillment your purpose. By refusing to let anything get in your way and staying committed, you will make a difference in this world and experience something so much greater than success – significance.

There are four groups of people: the cop-outs who always make excuses, the hold-outs who are stuck waiting because they are too afraid to commit, the drop-outs who start but quit when things get tough, and the all-outs who are committed to the purpose and willing to pay the price.

Each and every one of us was created on purpose for a purpose, and we must refuse to let problems get in our way and decide from the start that quitting is not an option. Let’s make up our minds today to be all-outs because we all can make a difference!
