Thanksgiving Blessings

Psalm 97:10-12

Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

Revelation 3:8 says “I know your works, see, I have set before (you-me-us) an open door, and no one can shut.

I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

To The Monticello News staff may your thanksgiving be a blessed one and all of Jasper County—Let us keep the faith in Jesus Our Savior.

The Prayer of Thanksgiving

O Lord, our heavenly Father, we your humble servants, desire Your fatherly goodness mercifully to accept this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; most humbly beseeching you to grant that by the merits and death of Your son, Jesus Christ, and through faith in His blood, we and your whole church may obtain remission of our sins and all other benefits of His passion.

And here we offer and present unto You, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies to be a reasonable, holy and living sacrifice unto you; humbly beseeching You that all we who are partakers of this Holy Communion may be filled with Your grace and heavenly benediction.

And although we be unworthy, through Our manifold sins, manifold mean having many different kinds of sins, to offer unto you any sacrifices, yet we beseech you to accept this our bounden duty and service; not weighing our merits, [But pardoning our offenses, through Christ our Lord, by whom and with whom in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory be unto you, O father Almighty, world without end. Amen.

O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good! Because His mercy endureth for ever. Amen, Amen.

[Ps. 92:1 say] It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto His name, O most High:

[Ps 24: 1 say] I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in Cleo’s mouth.

[St. Matthew 22: 36-40] Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all they soul, and with all thy mine. This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like unto it; thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments—hang all the law and the prophets. Amen-Amen-Amen.

Philemon 1:4-7 says Thanksgiving, I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers. v5 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou host toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all Saints;

That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by acknowledging of every good thing which is in you Christ Jesus.

For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother and sister my heart is still rejoicing with the prayers of your loved ones. No one can imagine how we are still filled with joy.

Song 575 in the hymnal book says praise and thanksgiving father, we offer, for all things living created good; Harvest of sown fields, fruits of the orchard, hay from the mown fields, blossom and wood. Bless, Lord the labor we bring to serve you, that with our neighbor we may be fed sowing our tilling. We would work with you. Harvesting, milling for our daily bread. Father providing food for your children by your wise guiding, teach us to share one with another so that rejoicing with us all others may know your care. Then will your blessing reach every people, freely confessing Your gracious hand where all obey you. No one will hunger in your love’s sway your nourish the land.
