Go Braves!

Go Braves! That’s been my mantra lately. And, I don’t get on Facebook very often, but I posted that both Saturday and Sunday nights, and maybe it paid off! No, I don’t think the Braves won because I, and all of Braves country, was rooting for them, but it helps!

Now that we’re slap in the middle of football season, the boys of summer are still at it. Yes, for those of you who are not sports fans…or maybe not baseball fans, the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers are competing for the National League title to represent the National League in the World Series.

At this writing, the Braves are up two games to nothing in the best of seven series. They played at home, in Truist Park, Saturday and Sunday, and won both days. Monday was a travel day, and they are to play up to three games in Los Angeles before returning to Atlanta to finish the series, if need be.

Darrell Farrar, who most of you know, proclaims the Dodgers are best. But he wasn’t real happy when he came in to the office on Monday, and the Braves had beat them two games in a row.

Let’s be fair, the Braves had home field advantage for the first two games, and the Dodgers will have a that advantage for the next three. That means lots of fans rooting for you at the stadium, the stadium you’re familiar with and play half your games of the season in. The Dodgers have a decided advantage for these next three games (two of which will have been played when you read this).

And, the Dodgers have a much better overall record. The Dodgers were 106-56 in the regular season, whereas the Braves were only 88-73. But, I’m a believer. And, the Braves faced much adversity this season, and just got better. Freddie Freeman slumped early in the season before rallying to be the team leader, as he as always been.

Unfortunately, Freddie has struggled in the first two games against the Dodgers…but I look for him to rally Tuesday. He is such a team leader, and when he struggles, we all hurt with him, cause we know he wants to hit the ball.

But, the Braves rallied Saturday and Sunday to win both games by walk-offs, and they’ll be ready Tuesday.

I was so dreading having to stay up to watch a late night game now that the Braves are on the west coast. So, imagine my surprise, and dismay, when I learned they play at 5:08 our time Tuesday. I have to work late most Tuesdays, and this week is school board week. Darn. Don’t they know there’s a playoff game on?

Yes, I know life marches on. But I wish I could watch each game. Wednesday’s game is scheduled for 8:08 p.m. so I should be able to watch all of it. (It’ll start at a time I’m home and available, and I should be able to stay awake til it’s over.)

So there’s no college football during the week, so if you enjoy sports, turn your television (if you can find it) to watch the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers battle it out to see who will have the privilege of playing the Houston Astros or Boston Red Sox in the World Series.

The Braves were to play in Los Angeles Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, before returning to Atlatna (if needed) for Saturday and Sunday games. (The Dawgs are off Saturday so there’s not danger of a conflict.)

This chick plans to be in front of the television for every game (except game three), and hope I get to see the Braves move on to the World Series which is slated to start Tuesday, Oct. 26. And then, I’ll be glued to the television again!

Go Braves!
