White Christmas?
Weather predictors say Monticello will be snowless this Christmas Day with temperatures up to 65 degrees and best of all no rain, just some wonderful sunshine.
That is not to say that weather can’t change in a snap. Back in 2010, we had snow on Christmas Day. But the snow everyone remembers was not in December, but the Snowmageddon of 2014 on January 28th. Probably the first time Atlanta weather was the lead story on national news.
Many stories of stranded motorists, children who had to spend the night in their school, brave volunteers, people sleeping in the aisles of stores and so many who went out of their way to help everyone.
If you need to get your snow spirit on, there are so many television specials and movies on and for all the traditional Christmas music you need, one channel has a video of a crackling fire beneath a beautifully decorated mantel and room while tunes play one after another, search for the Yule Log channel.
To appreciate how lucky we are to only get brief winter weather, tune into the nightly news around this time to see motorists stranded, spinning out, climbing out of ditches, sleeping at airports after cancelled flights. Makes you glad that you only need a sweater this year or maybe some shorts?
What’s on your Christmas list? Really this list depends on your age. Please put on your list a donation to a favorite charity or to an organization that helps all year long. So many paths to take on that subject. Giving to others means that you have already received.
Meanwhile back to watching my favorite Christmas classic movie, “Christmas in Connecticut.” Wonder why? The main character writes beautiful stories about her life and her cooking. And to all of you a wonderful holiday.
