Wooly Bully

It’s Fall y’all. But where’s our Fall foliage? Leaves are dropping at a frantic rate. Soon we will hear that most wonderful sound of the season, the leaf blower.

Some years we are told that we had too much rain, so no foliage. This year we haven’t had any rain, so what happened?

In the past few days we have had some beautiful days and just a hint of cool at night. That toenail of a moon shines bright.

Only a few wildflowers dot the roadsides. Maybe later.

Is this wonderful weather some trick from Mother Nature? Do we dare to get out our warm clothes? Again, we can turn to the old reliable woolly worm to give us predictions. The less the rusty, brown band on the woolly worm, the more severe the winter. Woolly worms around here don’t have any band at all, solid black. Whew, did you feel that cold wind from the North?

According to winter predictions from almanacs, you need to stock up on rock salt, some ski poles, windshield deicer, and hot chocolate mix. Yep, it’s gonna be one you can tell your grandchildren about according to the worms and the almanacs. We may even get some snowflakes. Brrrrrr…

Oh, yes, remember to get your flu shot.
