Mike Benton Is Top Administrator

Jasper County Manager Mike Benton received the Local Government Administrator of the Year Award presented annually by the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission. The award was presented in Athens on Thursday, May 16.

Raised in Moultrie, Mr. Benton graduated from Valdosta State University and enjoyed a 20 year career with Goldkist, Inc. In 2014, he became Finance Director for Jasper County before being named manager one year later.

He enjoys his work in local government, and strives to serve the county with every administrative skill, talent, and resource at his disposal. He and wife, Cissy, own a farm in northern Jasper County, and have three sons, Samuel, Matthew, and Daniel. In 2018, they welcomed two daughters-in-law to the family.

NEGRC Executive Director Jim Dove stated, “It is a privilege to work with Mike in efforts to improve the quality of life for all Jasper Countians. He is extremely dedicated and motivated, and truly an asset to the Jasper County Board of Commissioners.”
