Students Qualify for State Tech Fair

Last Friday, several students from Jasper County High School, Jasper County Middle School and Washington Park Elementary School traveled to Central Georgia Technical College in Milledgeville to compete in the Regional Technology Fair Competition which was hosted by Oconee RESA (Regional Educational Service Agency).

JCHS was represented with two first place and two second place projects. First place winners were Chloe Calkins in the category of Graphic Design and Mari Jablonski in Multimedia Applications. Second place winners were Emani Davis in Audio Production and Tarek Ahmad in Video Production.

JCMS was represented with two first place projects— Adelyn Walls in the category of Mobile Apps and William Garvin in Animation. Nine projects received second place recognition including Paul Zimmerman in 3D Modeling, Hannah Tinney in Multimedia Applications, Isabella Waddell in Audio Production, Macey Wages in Productivity Design, the team of Charleigh Dotson and Emaleigh Cole in Internet Applications, the team of Isabella Beekman and Alyson Arnett in Digital Photo Production, the team of JaKara Tobler and Ta’Kya Thompson in Mobile Apps, the team of Rashona Davis and Chloe Byrd in Animation, and the team of Lorilei Fowler and Breanna Fowler in Video Production.

From WPES, there were five first place winners including Zachary Garvin in Video Production, Leigha Perkins in Audio Production, the team of Nolan Dean and Grayson Danes in Video Production, the team of Anna James and Hadley Hodges in Digital Game Design, and the team of Chloe Reed and Brooklyn Esposito in Project Programming. There were two second place winners—Tyler Garvin in 3D Modeling and the team of Lillie Perkins and Randolph Epps in Audio Production.

Other participants included Marlee Farrar, Amelia Morris, Natalie Stanley, Cheyenne Taylor, Kristin Hill, Jennifer Callaway, Donecia Matthews, Gabi Stacey, Yaretzi Tarin, Luke Johnson, Owen Boatwright, Emaleigh Lease, Andrew Cumbie, Ben Haase, Keon Griffin, Julian Miranda, Georgia Christian, Kimora Andrews, Carson Crotts, Evan Smith, Anna Whittle, Harmoni Farley, Darren Covington, Julio Sanchez.

Students were accompanied by sponsors Amy Wade, Shawna Clemons, Mary Tumlin, Maureen Ryan, Johnnie Sue Moore, and Mason Jones.

All first place regional winners are invited to compete at the State Technology Fair Competition to be held March 9 at Middle Georgia State University in Macon. Students will face more than 500 competitors from all over Georgia. As elementary and middle school students gain experience and knowledge by competing in various categories, they can work toward rewards in the future as high school seniors are awarded heavily at the state level. The state competition sponsor, Georgia Educational Technology Consortium, will award scholarship to senior winners in each category.
