Band Seeking Donations for New Uniforms
The Jasper County Band Boosters have begun a fund raising campaign for the Marching Band to purchase new uniforms.
The Jasper County Marching Hurricanes have had the same uniforms for more than 12 years, and although the band has taken great care of the uniforms they need replacing. The band has doubled in size in the last 17 years and new uniforms are required to accommodate this growth.
The uniforms are $450 each. With nearly 100 band students the total funds needed by April 2019 is $45,000, with $20,000 of that due by February 2019.
Jasper County High School will open a new football stadium on the school grounds Fall 2019. This will be a perfect opportunity for the band to showcase their new uniforms, said the boosters.
The Hurricane Marching Band has earned the following awards:
•Earned overall superior scores in each of the last five band competitions.
•Earned superior scores for the last six years in a row.
•Many alumni continue music at the collegiate level, including participating in marching band at Albany State, Clemson, Georgia State, Mercer, Reinhardt, UGA, and Valdosta State.
•Last year two alumni marched in the Rose Bowl and National Championship game.
•One of the guard alumni was a member of the WGI World Champion Georgia State University Winterguard in 2014.
The band puts in many hours, days, weeks, and months preparing for marching season. Please help and donate any amount you can, the Band Boosters ask. .
