A Time Of Thanksgiving

The holidays are officially in full swing as we celebrate Thanksgiving with our family and friends. We all have so much to be thankful for!

Even if your flooring is crazy old like mine, your car rattles more than a bell, or you have been just stuck in rut for a while….we can all be thankful because we live in THE United States of America! A place where our communities support each other through thick and thin.

For some, 2018 has been a year of blessings and new adventures; for others it has been a year of turmoil and grief. We take great joy in your blessings and grieve with you in your pain. For some families in our community: loss of jobs or providers, health crisis, or other unexpected event has turned their world upside down.

For some families here in Jasper County, the upcoming holidays aren’t as cheerful as they should be. Which is where our awesome community steps up.

You might have seen your Jasper County Fire Rescue throughout the county last weekend and you’ll see us again this coming weekend. We are raising funds for the Secret Santa Stocking Fund to help local families with gifts for their children for the holidays.

For everyone that gave so generously this past weekend, thank you! Thank you for being a part of a fantastic community that shares its blessings with those who are struggling!

We all go through times of intense sunshine in our lives as well as chapters that are dark, heavy, and weary. Think of what helped pull you from it, even if it is not the boot drive please consider reaching out to a neighbor, or even a stranger and share your blessings with them! That love, kindness, and compassion is the humanity which unites us and strengthens us.

I wish you and your family the very happiest of Thanksgivings!! Please stay safe, thaw and dry your turkeys before you fry them, have a fire extinguisher handy in the kitchen, and check your smoke detectors!

Stay safe Jasper! The Rut is here.
