Sweater Weather

Sweater weather snuck up on us this year (Is snuck a real word?) and it’s time to bring out warm clothing. Those black wooly worms were right again—long winter, if this is the start.

And writing about staying warm, thanks to my grandmother and an aunt or two, I am the proud owner of a few quilts. One of those quilts was one of my high school graduation gifts. The quilt pieces were made from scraps of clothing I sewed, so that one is very special.

Another quilt is so heavy with thick batting, it’s hard to turn over when it is on the bed. The last one is very special, because I put the pieces together and my aunt quilted it. Quilting and sewing used to be talents most all the women folk had by necessity.

Warning, Warning, Warning. Time to get out one of your dozen or so lap throws and make a cup of double, double hot chocolate, ‘cause it’s time for round-the-clock Christmas movies that start out bad, but end up good.

This coming Saturday night, “Christmas at Graceland” debuts starring Kellie Pickler. This movie was shot in Memphis during July and August when snow was highly unlikely, but Christmas movies need snow and this one is no different. So, they used large sheets covered in recycled, ground-up plastic to duplicate snow. And, no, Elvis is not in the movie.

Stay warm and dry and as they say in Jasper County, “If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute”.
