FBLA Names Officers; Announces Projects

The Jasper County High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) installed six new officers for the 2018-2019 school year at a meeting held last Friday at the school.

Officers installed were (seated, left to right) Keri Roach, vice president; Ciara Christopher, president; Christopher Blakeley, treasurer; (standing) Savannah Mosley, web master; Connor Keesee, secretary; and Julia Proctor, projects chair.

Even though this was the first official meeting for FBLA, the local organization has already been busy at the school and in the community.

The local members have already been actively recruiting new members and there are currently 65 members. Members have been working to make team hand fans that they’ve been selling at the football and softball games as a fundraiser.

FBLA has also begun two very worthwhile service projects which involve the local students and community. For the third year in a row, FBLA is sponsoring a project to collect coloring books and crayons for children who will spend Christmas in one of the Atlanta area children’s hospitals.

The other project FBLA is sponsoring is a collection of school supplies and cleaning wipes for Summersill Elementary School in Jacksonville, NC which was flooded due to Hurricane Florence. In addition to students donating items, the local community is also welcome to donate school supplies and cleaning wipes for this project.

Donations for both service projects may be dropped off at the front office at the school or donors may contact JCHS teacher Amy Scroggs at 706-468-5028 to arrange for pick-up.
