4-H Enriches Lives
It was deja vu for me as Jasper County 4-H agent, Kasey Hall, and I, along with middle and high school 4-Hers went to Rock Eagle 4-H Camp to attend opening ceremony for the Georgia State 4-H Convention.
Back in my day in Tennessee, we, 4-H members, would ride on a school bus from one side of the state to the other to attend the state meeting held at University of Tennessee Knoxville. We stayed in the old dormitories and met in the student center.
Rock Eagle 4-H camp is a modern facility. Housing, grounds and buildings for the 4-H members looks like a resort rather than the ones I attended with the log cabins and the bath house down the hill. No, it was not the 1800’s.
4-H gives students experiences that will be useful for the rest of their lives. Meeting new people, learning to speak in public, competitions, all prepare our future adults.
If you have a middle school or high school student, please encourage them to join 4-H.
Have a safe and fun 4th of July, Happy 242nd celebration!!!
