School’s Out
Schools are out in Jasper County for the students anyway. Summer student vacation days from school get less and less. Teachers and staff get even less as they attend classes, accompany various school clubs to events and on occasion squeeze in a few days of relaxation with the family and friends.
Students, no doubt, will begin to feel bored by the end of the week. Endless texting and phone calls does not break this boredom. The parents will be consulting the school calendar to start the countdown until school begins again.
Plenty of local activities are available. At Jasper County Recreation Department there is tumbling camp for ages 5-11 throughout June held at Washington Park Elementary School. Go to the website at Jasper County Recreation for registration and information. Also in June, our recreation department offers soccer camp for ages 7-14. For information call Recreation Department at 706-468-4916.
This coming weekend is the Shady Dale Rodeo. Yoga classes are held twice a week at Thomas Persons Hall. Also at Thomas Persons Hall is Musical Theater Camp, June 18-23, ages 7-16. To learn about Thomas Persons Hall, there is a tour, June 14 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Don’t forget our library for fun, education and events this summer. Did you know that you can get free passes to our state parks and historic sites and also to the Atlanta Zoo and the Center for Puppetry Arts from the library? Plenty of free books, movies, how-to cd.
Congratulations to all our high school graduates and DREAM BIG AND ACHIEVE!
