Austin Mason Earns Expert Certification

AUSTIN MASON

Jasper County High School sophomore Austin Mason earned his Microsoft Word 2016 Expert Certification after successfully completing the test last week.

Young Mr. Mason is a student in Mrs. Amy Scroggs’s Business & Technology pathway at JCHS. He passed the Microsoft Word 2016 certification test last year while in the Introduction to Business & Technology class.

A few weeks ago, he began preparing and studying for the Expert test in the second level class, Business & Technology. He was successful on the Expert test on the first try and became the first JCHS student to certify at the Expert level.

“It just comes naturally to Austin,” Mrs. Scroggs said. “He is a hard worker in class and really wanted to achieve that Expert level. I’m proud of him because now he has set the bar for other students and now they see that it is truly a possibility for a high school student.”

A completer of the three classes in the Business & Technology pathway at JCHS could potentially become certified in Microsoft Word, Word Expert, Excel, Excel Expert, PowerPoint, and Access. Students can then take these industry certifications with them to help them exempt college classes and to help them get a job.
