Students Qualify for State Tech Fair Competition
On January 26 several students from Jasper County High School, Jasper County Middle School and Washington Park Elementary School traveled to Central Georgia Technical College in Milledgeville to compete in the Regional Technology Fair Competition which was hosted by Oconee RESA (Regional Educational Service Agency).
Jasper County High School was represented with four first place and two second place projects. First place winners included Alex Brewer and Carter Pitts in the category of Video Production for junior and seniors, Alina Jablonski in Multimedia Applications for juniors and seniors, Mari Jablonski in Multimedia Applications for freshmen and sophomores, and Ciara Christopher in Digital Photo Production. The following students placed second—Evan Newton in Audio Production and Tarek Ahmad in Video Production for freshmen and sophomores.
Jasper County Middle School was represented with four first place and two second place projects. First place winners included Jennifer Callaway and Donecia Matthews in the category of project programming, JaKara Tobler and Ta’Kya Thompson in Mobile Applications, Azure Guli and Kelsey Key in multimedia applications, and Hannah Tinney in Audio Production. The following students placed second—Macey Wages and Chloe Lovett in Productivity Design and the team of Lorilei Fowler and Breanna Fowler in Video Production.
From Washington Park Elementary School, all participants placed first or second place. There were two first place winners including Zachary Garvin in Digital Video Production for fourth grade and Hailey and Maelee Hamblin in Digital Video Production for fifth grade. There were four second place winners including Skyler Farley in Graphic Design for third grade, Emily Hall in Animation for third grade, and Eason Johnson in Robotics for third grade.
Other participants included Alisa Gilroy, Natalie Stanley, Josephine Fowler, Amelia Morris, Marlee Farrar, William Garvin, Kendall Place, Cortney Wyman, Adelyn Walls, Hunter Bloodworth, Abigail Byrd, Carlie Hall, Bethany Strength, and Donald Kirkpatrick.
Students were accompanied by school level sponsors: Jena Fowler, Mary Tumlin, Maureen Ryan, and Johnnie Sue Moore.
All first place regional winners are invited to compete at the State Technology Fair Competition to be held on March 10 at Middle Georgia State University in Macon. Students will face over 500 competitors from throughout Georgia.
As elementary and middle school students gain experience and knowledge by competing in various categories, they can work toward rewards in the future as high school seniors are awarded heavily at the state level.
The state competition sponsor, Georgia Educational Technology Consortium, will award a scholarship to each senior winner in each category.
