The New Year Begins

May 2018 be your best, Happy New Year. Hopefully, you guaranteed success this year by eating a traditional Southern New Year’s Day meal, black-eyed peas and some greens.

For the greens, several green vegetables will work, cabbage, collards and turnip greens. Accompanying this meal you just gotta have some cornbread, representing the gold you are bound to receive this year. Where turkeys are the star of the meal at Thanksgiving, the vegetables star on New Years Day.

When writing this first Hello of the year, everyone is crossing fingers, legs, throwing salt over their left shoulder, having a four leafed clover, a horseshoe right side up to collect luck, and of course wearing of the colors, black and red, as we wait for the Rose Bowl. Morning line betting had Georgia winning.

Of course, luck is just what you make it. Unless you were born with the proverbial silver spoon in your mouth, you have to work, smart work, to make this year your best.

Stay warm, Mother Nature has thrown us a curve this first week of 2018. Burrrrrrr!
