PA FFA Chapter Attends State Conference

Members from the Piedmont Academy FFA Chapter attended the 89th annual Georgia State FFA Convention in Macon recently.

State convention is a giant three-day meeting for FFA members around the state of Georgia. It gives members the opportunity to meet FFA members from other chapters all around the state of Georgia and hear from incredible speakers.

Also at state convention three PAC FFA members, Grayson Bradley, Wyatt Galloway, and Lawton Harris, who submitted their Supervised Agricultural Experience, or SAE, applications to the state got the chance to go on stage to receive their awards. But first they had to go through an interview process that would help the judges decide how to place them.

Grayson Bradley placed third in the state in her Home and Community Development SAE. Her project focused on mission work through FFA and her church.

Wyatt Galloway placed third in the state in his Diversified Agriculture SAE. His project was about the work he does on his family’s farm with beef cattle and grain production.

Lawton Harris placed first in the state in her Dairy Production Entrepreneurship SAE. Her project focused on her work with her dairy show cattle herd.

The PAC FFA chapter was also represented by Anne Marie Hildebrant in the Career Development Event, or CDE, of Prepared Public Speaking. Anne Marie competed in two other rounds of the Prepared Public Speaking CDE before advancing to the state round.

Piedmont was selected to help with community service work in downtown Macon due to the students’ admirable behavior and work ethic. Anne Marie Hildebrant and Brice Dodson were interviewed by WGXA News from Macon while cleaning up Rosa Park Square.

Wyatt Galloway was the recipient of the “Deep In The Heart” Scholarship and state degree recipients were Grayson Bradley, Anne Marie Hildebrant, and Brice Dodson.
