Valentine’s Day

Well…that’s a deep subject, Super Bowl 51 was not in the cards for our Falcons.

No one can say it was not a fight to the finish as the two teams played in Super Bowl’s first ever overtime game.

Let’s hope the taste of victory will inspire and not be forgotten for another 19 years. Our hearts can’t take it.

Spring has apparently decided to arrive early this year, daffodils blooming, azaleas budding and some even in full bloom. With these kinds of temperatures, we can’t decide to keep our coats handy. Layering is always good advice. Remember the spring blizzard in 1993, March 13th?

St. Valentine’s Day is in just a few days and with all its hearts, flowers, candy and cards in all the stores. The real St. Valentine would never believe how he is remembered. Talk about your altered historical facts about him.

A couple of historical facts about February 14th are true. Alexander Graham Bell applied for his patent for the telephone in 1876. How time flies when you are talking on his phone. If you were around in 1962, you were probably watching television on the evening of February 14. Three out of four televisions in the United States were tuned in to watch as First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy gave us a tour of the newly redecorated White House.

Valentine’s Day for us is all about love, so show the ones you love how much they mean to you, even if it is a phone call, thanks Mr. Bell.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Monticello! And Happy Birthday to Don, William, Tamara, Marilyn, Sandy and Frances.
