Say Thank You
Seventy-five years ago today, President Franklin D. Roosevelt spoke before Congress and gave one of the most quoted of all speeches when he said, “Yesterday, December 7th, 1941, a date which will live in infamy.” The entire speech lasted only seven minutes, but it’s impact on the United States cannot be understated.
Baby boomers had not been born when FDR gave his most famous speech. Indeed many of us baby boomers would not be here had it not been for the war that followed his speech and the eagerness for newly married couples to start families after the war.
Today, baby boomers, those born between 1946 and 1964, make up the second largest population in the world with millennials nipping at our heels.
Each generation thinks the older generation doesn’t have a clue and vice versa. We can all learn from each other. As we all know if you need help with your cell phone or other electronic advice ask a teenager. Remember when you did not panic about not having a telephone within your grasp at all times?
On the other hand, the older crowd is always ready to give advice on any subject since they have already lived through much, “Take it from me, young whippersnappers, don’t count your chickens before they hatch” or something equally as useful.
During this season of giving and sharing no matter what generation you are, take time to thank those who make a difference in your life, a teacher, the librarian, the police, the fire department, the doctor and nurse, your church, and most of all your friends and family.
