Good To Be Home
Good to be back home. Too bad we couldn’t bring some of the cool weather we experienced in the United Kingdom.
Imagine leaving Atlanta with a coat in July and actually needing it some days while over the pond. One day the weather person announced they were going to have a heat wave. Really? Let me tell you about a heat wave!
Another surprise was the length of days over there. The sun finally sets between 10:30 and 11 p.m. and the sun comes up around 4 a.m. Very strange and hard to adjust our body clock.
Every where we went people went out of their way to help us. We were trying to take the subway one afternoon and it was impossible, so we went out to the street where we were met by a London Ambassador who assisted us in finding the bus to our destination. We had many good experiences. Hopefully, if we have a chance, we can return the favor.
Of all the people we met in London, we never met anyone from London or born in London. Our hotel clerk was from Kosovo, our waitresses were from Poland and Romania. We rarely met anyone who has been to the United States. I always carry a small book with maps and point out Georgia in conversations.
In Edinburgh, we met a delightful family from India. Our hotel clerks were from Spain, the room cleaners were from Africa. Surprise, we did meet two people from Edinburgh.
How fortunate to be able to see the world, to meet people from all over this world and to be able to come home again!
