Southern Arc Traffic
The wait is over. For many years, like two decades, we have been hearing about a outer perimeter to relieve the congested traffic of Atlanta. Once upon a time, I-285 was the answer to this congestion, but soon it was congested. So the answer was to obviously build another perimeter highway, say the outer outer perimeter.
Just what will be the route of this outer outer perimeter highway?
For years we have read about the Northern Arc which sort of exists.
Logically, it seems there should be a Southern Arc. And without even actually building such a road, it’s here miraculously.
As you have probably noticed and all truckers know, the unofficial Southern Arc passes directly through Monticello Square as evidenced everyday as 18-wheelers attempt to negotiate the 90 degree turns around the square without killing local citizens trying to back out of a parking space around the square.
Thanks to modern technology, GPS, WAZ, Mapquest, Google maps give the shortest route between Macon and Madison and visa versa. That’s how Monticello comes into the mix.
Hope someone finds a way to make some money from the unofficial Southern Arc traffic.
