Youth Earns FBLA Scholarship

Garrett Scroggs, a senior at Jasper County High School, was awarded the Georgia Business Education Association’s (GBEA) Future Business Leader of America (FBLA) Scholarship last week at the FBLA State Conference in Athens.

Mr. Scroggs has been a member of FBLA since the sixth grade, and he has participated in numerous school and community service projects as well as competitions through the years. He has volunteered with the Seuss on the Loose project for the past three years, as well as with the Jasper County Primary School and Washington Park field days.

He has been a mentor to an elementary student for two years, and he has participated in the Monticello Baptist Church’s Mission Mania summer program for the past six years.

He is a member of the Hurricane football and baseball teams, as well as National FFA, Beta Club, the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), and the JCHS Literary Quartet. He is also a class representative for the senior class.

The GBEA Scholarship is presented each year to a senior FBLA member who has been an active and integral part of the organization through school and community service.

Garrett is the son of Gary and Amy Scroggs of Monticello, and the grandson of Jimmy and Lynda Sue McMichael of Monticello and Dorothy Scroggs and the late Walter Scroggs of Cumming.
