Band Members Excel

This past weekend Jasper County High School sophomore Will Robinson participated in the GMEA All-State Band held in Athens.

Will was among thousands of high school band students who first auditioned back in December. He then participated in the final state-wide audition in January, and based on his performance there he was selected as fourth chair trombone in one of the two ninth-tenth grade All-State Bands, placing him among the top of all ninth and tenth grade trombone players in the state. This was Will’s third year in a row making All-State Band.

Early this month five Jasper County Band students participated in the GMEA District IV Honor Bands held at Stephenson High School.

They were: Julia Aldridge, seventh grade euphonium; Avery Jacobs, ninth grade percussion; Broox Shannon, 10th grade tenor saxophone, Will Robinson, 10th grade trombone; and Clay Evans, 12th grade trumpet.

These students were all selected based on their auditions in December and placed them among the best on their instruments in the district that consists of Butts, Dekalb, Jasper, Morgan, Newton, and Rockdale Counties.

The high school band program is directed by Chris Savage. The middle school program is directed by Ray Buck, who is pictured with Miss Aldridge
