Merry Christmas!
Where do we live anyway? Those weather people must be pulling our legs again. 79-80 degrees on Christmas Day, Bah Hum Bug, can it be true?
For months since the Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas countdown began, the television, newspaper and circulars have been advertising Winter Wear, coats, sweaters, comfy boots and slippers. To use these gifts we need to pull up stakes and take a trip to Cawker City, Kansas where they are expecting 35 degrees and more than an inch of the white fluffy stuff. How surprised the Cawker City citizens would be to see us arrive in our Winter Wear and announce, “We are here to see your largest ball of twine and that more than an inch of snow.”
Looks like Kathy Mudd better dig out her archived pictures of our Christmas Day snow in 2010 when we got a light dusting.
Before then it had been 128 years since the Atlanta area had seen a White Christmas.
At last count there were about 20 movies with a Christmas theme on television and 99 percent of them have a snowfall included in the plot and all have those happy endings, “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.”
So…As holiday cards arrive, some with the yearly update letters, some with pictures of the family posed in matching sweaters and shirts, the big rush is on, but it is also a good time to remember to donate your time or money to help those in our area who are not as fortunate.
May Monticello have a very Merry Christmas for all!
