Marching Huricanes Excel at Festival
The Marching Hurricanes performed in the Oconee Classic Marching Contest held September 26 at Baldwin High School in Milledgeville.
Despite the rainy day that included many delays, the Marching Hurricanes were able to avoid getting wet and gave an exciting performance of their full 2015 production, “Genie.”
The band received an overall excellent rating, and percussion and Drum Major, Anna Parker, both received superior ratings. In class AA, the drum major received third place, while the overall band and guard both received second place. The Marching Hurricane percussion section received first place in class AA.
In addition to outscoring many AA bands, the band also outscored all A bands as well as some larger bands at the contest.
The Marching Hurricanes will continue their competitive season later this month when they travel to the Heart of Georgia Invitational in Warner Robins on October 24.
