Fall Festivals

Lucky us, the overcast and heavy mist parted long enough to cast a red haze in the sky as the super moon eclipse occurred.

In recent days, there has been a steady mist falling most of the day. Fall has definitely come to Jasper County and besides the mist, leaves are falling and becoming stuck on sidewalks and porches. It will take several days of sunshine before these leaves can be raked or blown away.

Right now leaves are just falling, just a few yellow leaves cling to tree limbs, but not any of the beautiful foliage that we so love as a gift from autumn. Everyone has their own philosophy about when the trees will present us with those red, yellow and orange leaves. Some say it takes a heavy dew or frost.

This year we have an abundance of yellow daisies dotting our roadsides and flower beds. Bring on the festivals and fairs. Time to enjoy corn mazes, crisp apples and fat pumpkins.

This Saturday, Oct. 3, a local festival will be held at the Monastery on Hwy. 212 in Conyers—family fun, crafts, entertainment. If you’re willing to spend some time, motor on down to Hahira, for their Honey Bee Festival where they say it’s “The Place to Bee.” October is full of festivals to find the perfect one for you and yours go to the website www.funtober.com/festivals/october. And of course our own festival, the 49th Jasper County Deer Festival is Saturday, Nov. 7.

Cooler days are on the way, sweater weather. Have a fabulous Fall y’all and watch out for those white tails they are on the move.
