Follow-Up

Well, we made it back from Biloxi, with a little bit fatter tummies, and slimmer wallets, but it was a good weekend, and I think Jimmy really handled turning 60 very well.

I had him three birthday cards…one to give him Saturday night, one Sunday morning and one Sunday night. But, I didn’t get the Saturday night open out before he fell asleep, so he had one from me, and one from a friend, to open when he got up Sunday morning. Then at breakfast, he opened another one from me, and Sunday night finished off the festivities.

We had a good time and brought back a bunch of shrimp to give us a few more good seafood meals.

I did make it back in time for the blood drive, but unfortunately was unable to give as my iron was a little too low. You would think as much as I ate it would have been in good shape. I even had prime rib Sunday night, which should have helped my iron level. But I guess the seafood the rest of the weekend didn’t really build it up.

We stayed at Harrah’s where we had free rooms, but decided it was not our favorite casino. The Palace is a smoke-free resort, and it was really nice having no cigarette smoke to deal with anywhere on the property. (Us reformed smokers really don’t like the stuff.)

We also had better luck at the Golden Nugget, Treasure Bay and the Palace than we did at Harrah’s. We didn’t visit the ritzy Beau Rivage or the Hard Rock…but we have before. We wanted to stay at Harrah’s to build up more complimentary stuff, but we also like to get out and about some.

We ate at two different places that are famous for their oysters…something Jimmy really enjoyed, and we had the casino buffet a couple nights too.

All in all it was a good weekend, and now Jimmy has made it to that 60 point, and is no worse for the wear. Missing work on Friday and Monday, and being out of town for the whole weekend, I do feel lost.

Most of the work on the paper is done Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning, so missing all day Monday makes me feel like I don’t know what’s going on. I should look at Facebook more to stay in the loop, but I really don’t feel like I get enough good information to bother with it.

Anyway, we are back, and hopefully I can find something much more interesting to the readers to write about next week.
