2015 Fashionista

“For the times, they are a changin” Bob Dylan crooned 50 years ago. Well, the times didn’t change much as evidenced by our daily news feed and fashion.

And speaking of fashion, what about those fashionistas who will be rocking the halls of high school this year?

Recently there were some “birds” as girls were called back in the ‘60’s sporting locks of blue and purple hair.

Back then, no teen would have sported any blue or purple hair—that was reserved for their grandmothers who had left the Fanci-Ful rinse on too long.

Many teens will be wearing a new sensational shoe this year, Converse All Stars, which were strictly reserved for male basketball players 50 years ago. Now these shoes come in all colors instead of the standard black with the star on the ankle.

Blue jeans are back, but this time they have to be rolled up above the ankle and worn with high heels.

Ever since Mr. Levi made some pants out of denim canvas over 100 years ago, jeans have been an old standby.

Short skirts and knee high boots, groovy man. Back in the day short skirts were worn with go-go boots, same difference.

Fashion designers are pushing fake fur collars and vests for this coming year. Hey, what ever happened to mouton (moo-tawn) collars, vests and coats? Did all the moutons die out?

Note to teens, remember that someday you will see yourself in your outfit that you thought was the coolest, most glamorous treasure and try to rip it out of the yearbook or photo album before your children see it.
