Schools Welcome New Principals

Jasper County schools welcome two new principals for the 2015-2016 school year.

Charlie Frazier, the new principal at Jasper County Middle School, returns to Jasper County after five years of serving as an assistant principal in Butts County schools.

Originally from Brunswick, Mr. Frazier got his degree in middle grades education from Clayton State and started his teaching career in Clayton County.

He previously coached middle school basketball, football and track and eventually took the head basketball coach position at Jasper County High School in 2008 when he was hired to teach at the middle school. Here he taught eighth grade math and Georgia studies for two years and also served as the middle school football coach.

Mr. Frazier has four children, three daughters and a son. His eldest attends Savannah State and his youngest is just starting elementary school.

He is looking forward to getting to know all of the faculty, staff and students at the middle school and working with the community.

Camille Murner, whose childhood nickname was “Hurricane Camille,” comes to Jasper County High School as principal after serving as principal of Rex Middle School in Clayton County for the past four years.

Originally from Sandersville, Ms. Murner graduated from Washington County High School and started her teaching career there in 1987 after graduating with a degree in history from Georgia College. She received her masters in education from Georgia College shortly thereafter.

Starting in 2003, Ms. Murner served as the Assistant Principal of Washington County Alternative School for three years, and then the Principal of the Georgia College Early College in Milledgeville for five years.

She is married to Kevin Murner and has two children, one of which is a sixth grade teacher and the other is a junior at Mercer University.

“I can’t wait to be back in a small town where relationships made for years truly matter,” said Mr. Murner.

She continued, “I want to honor traditions of the school and push our students to new heights. I am truly honored to have been chosen to lead such a great school.”

The JCHS faculty and staff will host a reception for the community to meet and greet Mrs. Murner on Thursday, July 16. The “drop-in” reception will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the JCHS media center.
