Procrastination
Those who know me well, know I am the queen of procrastination…I can put off anything. And, I’ve commented many a time I have the best job in the world for me because I have a deadline every week, without fail. Without the deadline, I’d never get around to doing much of anything.
I must say I take after my father in that respect. He was a great procrastinator. And, he was a great piddler. Where does the time go? I can piddle with the best of them. Lately, I enjoy my weekend mornings by sleeping in then playing games on my phone or my tablet. Boy, time sure marches on when you’re not doing anything productive. But then, that’s what weekends are for…sometimes anyway…resting and recharging for another work week.
Some weekends I try to accomplish stuff…but if I don’t set a specific goal, odds are it won’t get done. Last weekend I finally got around to planning my window boxes. I usually do it around mother’s day or even as early as my birthday some years. Not this time, I never really went shopping for flowers. Then, Saturday, l decided it was time, and I went over to the Farm & Garden, picked out a few petunias and vinca, and they are now in the boxes. Hopefully they will flourish.
And, many of you know I promised we’d have an open house once we got settled in our new office. Well, we’ve been getting the paper out every week for five full months now, and still no open house. So, I decided it is time. We moved in the first week in January, and here it is the end of May.
So, two weeks from now, on June 11, I’m inviting all of our readers to come visit our “new” building…the old Tillman House Restaurant…at 247 West Washington Street, right next to the old office. We’ll have refreshments and welcome you from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., but if you can’t make it then drop in whenever. I can’t wait to show off our beautiful new offices.
