Music in our Lives
Music. How important is music in our lives? We associate certain songs with certain times in our life.
I grew up listening to the whirling, 78-speed record playing George Gershwin’s, “Rhapsody in Blue.”
Fortunately I have this record in my collection, once given to my father by my mother in 1945, signed “Jim, Love Maxine.” They were married that year. This classic has been playing in my head for 60 years at least.
Do you know the # 1 song the day you were born? Mine is “Ballerina” by Vaughn Monroe and His Orchestra. Who? By age 18, my birthday song was “Turn!Turn!Turn!” by The Byrds. The Byrds it’s a pun, “How time flies.”
Thanks to the internet you can not only find “your” song the day you were born by searching www.birthdayjams.com/us, but also listen to “your” song by clicking “Listen to song on youtube.”
