Yellow Haze

Through the yellow haze the sun broke through to reveal yet another inch thick mass of pine pollen covering our fair county. Dare not use a leaf blower to rid your porch or lawn furniture of the yellow stuff as it only blows back again in minutes.

Our television weather people only add misery to allergy suffers by announcing on a daily basis the count of the pollen polluters. Who adds up all these things? Lob lolly pines hold the record for the highest count. Those in the know tell us that there are about 11.7 million of these lob lollies just in the Southeast.

During this joyless season, commercials are all about products to help allergy suffers. They show people with red noses and clogged up nasal passages who are probably residents of Jasper County.

What to do? Wear a respirator, buy a giant air purifier, move to a desert. Not likely. Given a few spring storms and the rain will wash all that yellow stuff away until next year.

Ah, nature!
