Envirothan Team Places Sixth

The Jasper County High School Envirothon team placed sixth in the state last Saturday.

The students, competing as a team, placed third in wildlife and fifth in forestry, soils and aquatics. The team from Appling County will advance to nationals, and past state champions rounded out the top three ranking teams.

The students also provided a presentation on urban forestry, which was this year’s special topic. The state competition was held at Camp John Hope FFA-FCCLA Center near Fort Valley.

Students who competed at state included freshman Alina Jablonski, junior Levi Ford and seniors Tristan Armstrong, Christian Parr and Emmi Wade. This is Emmi Wade’s fourth and final year competing on the Envirothon team. The team is coached by Tyson Harty and Jehan El-Jourbagy.
