Taking a Survey

Recently while trying to take a survey on the square downtown, most drivers wouldn’t roll down their windows fearing that an ounce of cold air would escape, some tried Atlanta’s favorite past time, hit and run, but a few brave souls actually slowed down long enough to answer.

And the soul-searching, hard-hitting question that The Monticello News is noted for was none other than, “Hey, what’s your favorite snack or meal?”

Plenty stuck with an old favorite especially with the young folks, the classic, pig in a blanket, hot dogs stuffed with cheese, wrapped in bacon and fried. My mouth waters.

Biscuits was the answer again and again. Leftover biscuits just beg to be eaten and so… One survey taker loved a biscuit stuffed with a slice of tomatoe or is that tomato. What about that wordsmith?

Another loved toasted biscuits, or in some circles that’s the Southern equivalent to a bagel. One person admitted their addiction to biscuits sopped in sorghum.

Some person once said that “Hunger is the best sauce” which would account for someone who would love to eat this, break up pieces of cornbread in cold milk and eat with a spoon, also can use saltines in a pinch. Also can be garnished with salt and pepper.

A favorite also included fried bologna and eggs; rich folks would substitute Spam.

Mama’s all went for the easy, EASY, and fast meals, Tater Tot Casserole and Frito Chili Pie.

All the above favorites should come with a health warning on the side, but sometimes you just gotta indulge.

What’s your favorite? Bon appetit, Monticello!!
