Brian Patrick Is Teacher of the Year

Brian Patrick was named the Teacher of the Year for the Jasper County School System during its end of year convocation ceremony. Mr. Patrick teaches English at Jasper County High School and serves as the BETA Club adviser.

Teachers of the Year included Jim Strength at Jasper County Middle School, Sara Burrell at Jasper County Primary School and Jena Fowler at Washington Park Elementary School.

In addition, Jasper County Schools recognized employees for years of service.

Horace Hardwick, Jr., the longest-serving employee, was recognized for 45 years of service.

Marcia Hopper and Margie Jackson were recognized for 30 years of service, and Jan Stephens was recognized for 25 years. Ms. Stephens was also honored as she is retiring this year.

Beth Berg, Thomasa Bowden, Annette Howard and Sue Laudicina were honored for their 20 years of service, and Patsy Boykin, Lynn Deraney, Sissy Mason, Rachel Pitts, Dell Massey, Shawne Holder, Perry Hyde, Rydell Jackson, Matt Tumlin were recognized for the 15 years they have worked for the Jasper County Schools.

Employees working in the schools for ten years include April Clark, Elizabeth Pratt, Kimberly Ragan, Heather Battle, Brian Davis, Kathy Dukes, Shawna Clemons, Yelberton Frazier, Hattie Sands, Lionel Taylor and Donna Wyatt.

Five year employees include Dan Kelley, Amanda Billings, Laree Belcher, Melissa Durrett, Brian Patrick and Alicia Kirkpatrick.

Additional retirees honored included Jerri James, Kathy Rice, Melissa Durrett, Morad El-Jourbagy, Suzette Gude and Vicki Rogers.

Graduating senior James Sampson, who served as the drum major of the Marching ‘Canes, served as the inspirational speaker.
