This ‘N That
This Sunday is Easter, possibly the greatest celebration in the Christian world, was well as a pretty big celebration in the secular world.
Some people know my family and friends have been known to have a big Easter egg hunt at my house this time of year.
My sister, Jenny, began the celebration more than 25 years ago when we had small children at her house in the country. Some time after that she moved to the city, not far from the time I moved to the country. So, I inherited hosting the event although she stuffs virtually all the eggs…and a lot of eggs it is.
We tried to quit having it, as our children are grown and have not yet blessed us with grandchildren, but then we realized we have too much stuff to just stop. So, we changed to every other year. This is an off year. It’s a lot of work. I’m glad we’re not doing it this year.
The Monticello Diner is hosting an Easter egg hunt on the Square on Sunday afternoon, however, and many churches, families and civic groups also entertain the children with those.
So, enjoy your Easter festivities, whatever they are, and if you’re so inclined, remember the origin of the festival. Jesus live!

Last week Suzanne McGinnis wrote about litterers. Although I don’t share her opinion totally on who is littering, it bothers me as much as it does her.
Monday, when we came to work there were playing cards in the road in front of the office, and a condom wrapper on the sidewalk. Really?!? One person was heard to say someone had fun over the weekend around here. It’s ridiculous.
And, anyone who has been in my vehicle knows how I feel about littering. I’ll carry trash a long time to dispose of it properly.
But, one day not so long ago, my husband had set the recycling in the back of my truck, saying he didn’t think it would blow out. It did. I was mortified. I will have to pick up trash along the road a while to make up for my indiscretion.
But really, people, it’s not that hard. When you stop your vehicle, at home, stores, fast food places, dispose of current trash. Or, if you are like me, dispose of the trash at each stop, and hold onto recycling until you get to the bin or to home where I keep a bag until it gets full. Our roadsides would be so much more attractive.

One last note…how about those red hot Braves!!! Jimmy’s family is from Maryland, and some of them are Nationals’ fans. So, we take great delight that all of the Nationals’ losses so far this season have been to the Braves.
Jimmy and I were there Sunday when the Braves completed the home sweep of the Nationals.
Then Monday, the Braves and Phillies got into a slugging match, with Dan Uggla hushing critics with his game-winning grand slam.
Uggla has been less than superb since coming to the Braves. I agreed with one of the announcers who said he’d like to see Uggla continue his current hitting ways, and change his walk-up song in Atlanta to a Toby Keith song. When his co-announcer asked what what that be, the reply was “How Do You Like Me Now?” I love it! Go Uggla; go Braves!!!!
