Jim Strength Is Middle School Teacher of the Year
Jim Strength, an eighth grade English/Language Arts teacher, was named the Jasper County Middle School Teacher of the Year on Monday, March 24.
Mr. Strength grew up in Jasper County and is a 1996 graduate of Jasper County High School. With a total of 12 years of teaching experience, Mr. Strength has served the Jasper County schools for four years.
Mr. Strength is currently teaching English/Language Arts and has previously taught social studies and science. He serves as the chair of the social studies department and is the eighth grade lead teacher.
On a system-wide level, Mr. Strength serves on the Better Seekers Team and Core Team, two groups that seek to improve pedagogy and integrate cutting-edge educational policy.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Strength also serves as an assistant coach for the baseball and football teams. He also involved in the community as a member of Jasper Lodge #50 and a coach of the 4-H shotgun team.
In his free time, he enjoys hunting and golf and spending time with his family. He is married to his high school sweetheart, the former Meredith Resseau, a computer and electrical engineer at Warner Robins Air Force Base. They have two children, J.K. and Bethany Strength.
Mr. Strength is the son of two educators, Ben and Barbara Strength, who retired from the Jasper County School System.
Other JCMS nominees for the award included sixth grade teachers Elizabeth Pratt, Amanda Billings and Rebecca Guyton and eighth grade teacher Debbie King.
JCMS Principal Dian Blizzard presented Mr. Strength with his award.
